Dialogue and collaboration
We communicate regularly with our key stakeholders about sustainability-related topics.
It is important for us to maintain an open and transparent dialogue with our employees, customers, suppliers, politicians and society, authorities, capital market participants, the media, non-governmental organisations and the scientific community. For example, we regularly discuss sustainability-related topics such as the decarbonisation of our production, raw material extraction along the value chain and flexibility in energy supply – also against the backdrop of geopolitical events. Other topics of interest include the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkKSG), operational environmental protection at our sites and our contribution to the goals of the European Green Deal. At the same time, we identify social trends and political developments through dialogue.
For many years, we have been involved in numerous initiatives and projects at national and international level on sustainability issues such as climate and environmental protection, labour standards, human rights and anti-corruption. These include, for example:
- B.A.U.M. – German Environmental Management Association (since 2001)
- CDP (since 2015)
- DCGK – German Corporate Governance Code (since 2002)
- ERMA – European Raw Materials Alliance (since 2020)
- IG BCE – ‘Charter of Equality’ of the Mining, Chemical and Energy Industrial Union (since 2014)
- PREVENT Waste Alliance (since 2020)
- Responsible Care – as a member of the VCI, we are committed to the chemical industry's sustainability initiative.
- The Copper Mark (since its founding in 2020)
- UNGC – United Nations Global Compact with local involvement in the networks of Germany and Bulgaria (since 2014/15)
- Automotive Industry Dialogue (since 2021)
If, despite all risk mitigation measures, incidents of public interest occur, we ensure responsible communication with our stakeholders through constructive dialogue, in which we take critical comments on board and develop improvement measures.
